Abortion or LIFE!!!

Some years ago, right around my birthday, I posted a photo obtained from Facebook that showed a replica of a very tiny baby, held in someone’s hand.  It turned out to be a beautiful sculpture, one of several, with features that were spot on to a new born.  My point in the blog was to celebrate how God had saved me from abortion, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image and likeness of God, not something to be tossed aside on a garbage heap of medical waste to be burned or, worse, sold for parts to the highest bidder. We are fearfully and wonderfully made

There was one lady who angrily spoke up and wrote that I should have posted a real live 12 week old baby instead of a replica.  Not wanting to turn my blog into something quite controversial, I didn’t do or say anything negative to her but left a comment about the photo and what it was meant to portray.   Because of that photo, my blog continues to get a few hits every so often, but I don’t believe anyone is really looking at the site itself…just the photo.   So, I have taken that photo down, to replace with something more appropriate but not overtly graphic.  (If you wish to see the real life photos of aborted children, they are out there on Google and they are heart-breaking.)

My blog visitor was right though.  We in the Christian community have long allowed the world to dictate much of how we respond to things like this, subjects that are uncomfortable, not politically correct, and we hide from them as I have, not wanting to offend.  Abortion, though, is one subject I do feel strongly about because I was saved from the butcher’s hand by a birth mother who cared enough about her own life and mine to give me a chance.

Please consider this:  in order to have confidence in God for every area of our lives, we must be confident that the life He has given us is worth living, and fighting for — from the “womb to the tomb”.  Life is from God, not to be extinguished by anyone other than Him, before it has an opportunity to take a breath.  He offers believers, His kids, abundant life!  Why would we not want that for our children, born or in utero?  Obviously, I’m probably preaching to the choir here.

The self-centeredness, selfishness, greed, and hypocrisy that surrounds us these days, particularly regarding this subject is beyond reprehensible and demeaning to our humanity.  But, instead of wallowing in depression and despair over what is or what seems to be unchanging and only getting worse, I still remain confident in a loving God who will bring His Will, His Light, Love and Mercy to our sinful world and bring revival to those lost in their own depravity and blinded by evil.

For those who do not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, I urge you to humble yourselves before Him and repent, turn around, go the other way.  You will never regret it.  He is waiting for you with open arms to come to Him.  (If you should need assistance or have questions, please check out my page “Confidence in God 101” – formerly known as “Where Does Confidence in God Come From?” – for more info.)

For those of you who do know Jesus as Lord and Savior, Lamb of God and Soon-Coming King, do not despair!  Do not give up!   Have confidence in God!  Continue to do good in this world and fight for what is right!

31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. [Heb. 12:1-3.]  Isaiah 40:31 Amplified BibleCourage

Remember, we aren’t wrestling with evil human souls here who, in reality,  are virtually bound in chains by demonic influences. This is a FULL ON spiritual battle against the powers of darkness planning on destroying the human race God so lovingly created and sacrificed His Son for.  So if you wish to remain faint of heart, you’ve already lost.  Gear up, Soldiers!  Be Courageous! Put on your armor!

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvationand the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.  Ephesians 6:10-18 New International Version

Pray like you’ve never prayed before.  Believe like you’ve never believed before.  Obey like you’ve never obeyed before.  And most importantly, speak and act like what you’re praying and believing for is reality.  Then you’ll see things you’ve never seen before.  Get ready Troops.  A Miracle awaits us if we don’t give up our confidence!

Ever Wondered How to Be Happy?

Gratefulness makes us happyI know social media is the “in” thing nowadays and I do “partake” daily of some of its offerings, but occasionally it brings sad, maddening, disgusting things to light, besides all of my friends’ events and pictures, likes, comments, etc. of course, and it’s kind of a bummer.   Today though, I ran across a video that had a unique title, so I fell for it and was pleasantly surprised by the content.  You may wonder why I share it because it seemingly has nothing to do with God, as is my usual offering on this blog, but it seems to me that sometimes, things in the world just prove what He has been trying to say to us through His Word for centuries and He has to bring it out through a “scientific” venue, to make anyone listen.

Please take a few minutes to watch…I promise it’ll have a positive impact in your life for a little while anyway, and maybe even longer!

Discover How to be Happy

Along the lines of gratefulness and thankfulness and the effects they have on us, I’d like to share a scripture with you that exemplifies why God wants us to be thankful.

“As He went on His way to Jerusalem, it occurred that [Jesus] was passing [along the border] between Samaria and Galilee.  and as He was going into one village, He was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance.  And they raised up their voices and called, “Jesus, Master, take pity and have mercy on us!”  And when He saw them, He said to them, Go [at once] and show yourselves to the priests.  And as they went, they were cured and made clean. [Leviticus 14:2-32 talks about lepers and cleansing]  Then one of them, upon seeing that he was cured, turned back, recognizing and thanking and praising God with a loud voice; And he fell prostrate at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him [over and over].  And he was a Samaritan.  Then Jesus asked, “Were not [all] ten cleansed?  Where are the nine? Was there no one found to return and to recognize and give thanks and praise to God except this alien?”  And He said to him, “Get up and go on your way.  Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your belief in God) has restored you to health.”  Luke 17:11-19  The Amplified Bible

Here we have 10 guys walking along the road when they spot Jesus.  They know He’s been called a miracle worker so since they have a deadly serious illness that causes parts of their body to decay and fall from their bodies, it had to be worth a shot to see if Jesus would help them.  Fortunately for them, Jesus took pity on them and following God’s direction healed them all.  But, they still had to use their faith by following His instructions to go to the priests to declare they had been healed in order to activate the healing.  Many of them had lost fingers, toes, ears, and other body parts, but now the disease was no longer ravaging their bodies to do further damage.

As they walked, I’m sure they talked amongst themselves about this miracle happening to them, but only one of them, a Samaritan–lowliest human on the social ladder in those days, scum of the earth, felt that he wanted to say a personal thank you to the One who gave him such incredible mercy.  When he returned to thank the Master, Jesus wanted to know where all the others were.  Were they not grateful as well?

As Jesus acknowledged the man’s faith, confidence in God, and thankful heart, He said that his actions had put into motion a complete and total healing in his body.  All the parts that had been missing from his body because of the disease, had been recreated and he was made “every whit whole.”Things to be thankful for

So, nine guys went away healed of the disease but were left for the rest of their lives with missing parts because they didn’t consider it important enough to say thank you.  The one who was willing to show his gratefulness went away completely whole.

Happy?  Yeah, you bet he was happy!

What about you?  Are you happy?  Well, if you could use a little more happiness in your life, take a tip from the Samaritan.  Go to God and thank Him for everything…hot running water for your morning shower, food to eat, clothes to wear, a roof over your head, and so on and so on.  If you don’t have everything you want in life, tell him you’re thankful for that too.  There’s a good reason we don’t get everything we want sometimes.  He knows some things aren’t good for us!  Or, we need to mature a little before we can handle some of the things He wants to entrust us with.

Check your Happy-O-Meter…if you need more happy…give appreciation, be thankful.  You’ll be amazed at what God will do!
