We may be little, but with Him we can be BIG!

We may be little, but with Him we can be BIG!

Ok, so in telling everyone to have confidence in God, you may ask “Well, how do I get that confidence?  I can’t just make it up, can I?”

Well, no.  Not exactly.  But there are some steps that will lead you to a better knowledge of God, His will for you,  and how to be your best you.

(As an aside, lest you think I might be just trying to tell you what to do, let me just say I came to Jesus the same way, questions and all.  Basically, been there, done that, got the T-shirt to prove it!)

Let’s start with where you are.  No matter what your life’s experiences, failures or faults, successes or qualities, you started out sinful.  No fault of your own, really…you were born with sinful tendencies (thanks to Adam and Eve — and that evil apple) and those began to manifest even as a baby or a young child, as your parents can probably attest.  As you grew older, those tendencies became more well defined, honed, and skillfully crafted into who you are today.  Sinning is second nature to all of us.  But is there a way to stop, or at least slow down the sinning process?  To become someone better, nicer, kinder, less self-centered, or selfish?

Yes!!!  But it will take effort, and if you’re willing to keep reading  I’ll share some tips, scriptures, etc., and then you can decide for yourself how to proceed with the info given.

1)  Recognize you are a sinner.  Without that revelation, the rest is useless.  If you haven’t come that far yet, just stop reading and come back when you figure out that you do stuff wrong and you are not the king or queen of the world like you thought.  Fortunately for me, I had a healthy realization of that fact early on in my childhood so when I learned what to do about it at age 18, it was easier to make a wise and informed decision.

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23  King James Version

“They have all gone aside, they have all together become filthy; there is none that does good or right, no, not one.”  Psalms 14:3  The Amplified Version

2)  Acknowledge that God is real and He loves you, that He sent His Son Jesus to die for you, He alone is able and willing to forgive every sin you ever committed or thought of committing,  and can change you to be a better you, a forgiven you, a clean you.  (If you are having trouble believing this step, I encourage you to read the Gospel of John in the Bible.  Let Him speak to you through the words on each page and understand that He is talking directly to YOU!)

“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.”  John 3:16  The Amplified Version

 3)  Pray–talk to God and ask Him to come into your heart and forgive your sins, make you clean, take control and help you live the kind of life He would have you live — for Him.

“But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name –”  John 1:12  The Amplified Version

“For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Romans 6:23  The Amplified Version

4)   Read His Love Letter, the Bible, every day.  Become familiar with what He says, how He says it.  Pray every day, pray His Word, out loud.

5)   DO His Word!  Obey it.

The more you get into His Word, and do what it says, your confidence will build.  He will show Himself ever more real to you — sometimes in amazing, astonishing ways…ways you never dreamed possible!  As you obey what He tells you in His Word, no matter how difficult it may seem, His love for you, your love for Him, and trust in His way of doing things will make more sense.  His Word is life!  Confidence will rise up in your heart.

Joshua was given a commandment by God when he took over leading the people of Israel after Moses passed on to his great reward.  It’s a model for success even today.  And who doesn’t want to be successful?

“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it.  For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.  Joshua 1:8  The Amplified Version

When we have enemies all around us, He helps us to be strong and confident!

When we have enemies all around us, He helps us to be strong and confident!

6)  Continue to pray  It is very important to stay connected with God through prayer, as well as reading His Word.  Not only do others need your prayers, but you need to pray for yourself that God will give you inner strength, courage, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in all His ways so you can be an example of Jesus’ love to others.

“Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty.  To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).”  Ephesians 6:18  The Amplified Version

Well, I hope that this helps many of you come to that most important of all decisions in life:  to receive Jesus as Savior of your soul and Lord of your life!  It’s a big decision, one not entered into lightly, nor is it for the faint of heart.  Be courageous, be bold, take a stand for right!  Being a Christian is not easy, it is fraught with danger, disappointment at times, but is exciting, fruitful and fully satisfying, down to your very soul.

May you come to know, just as the Apostle Paul says:

“Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.”  Ephesians 1:4  The Amplified Version

God Bless you in your search for Confidence in God!!

P.S.  If you have made the decision to give Christ your whole heart and are unsure what to say to God, may I offer a possible prayer for you to pray?

“Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of a savior.  I recognize that You, Jesus, sent by Father God, loved me so much that You came to Earth and lived a sinless life, took my place and paid the terrible price for my sin.  I accept Your sacrifice for me and ask You to cleanse me with your Blood.  I receive You as my personal Savior.  I repent of, turn away from, my sin.   I recognize I’ve made a mess of things trying to be the boss, and I ask you to take control and be the Lord of my life now and forever.  Thank you for helping me to live for You daily and I will share with others as you grant me boldness and wisdom.  Thank you for saving me for all eternity and I am now your child.  Amen!”
